Over these past few days and heading towards my first Sunday back after 4 weeks leave I have been challenged by Luke 18 and will be preaching on it this weekend.
the biggy...
Jesus asking the blind beggar "what do you want me to do for you ?"
In this world I see many Christians asking Jesus for superficial things, and often very selfish things, but its a great question to really ponder ...
What do I want Jesus to do for me ? for my church ? for The Salvation Army ?
I am left with an inescapable and undeniable fact that when it is all stripped away I want God to give us souls in our church, and to grow the S/Army to be the "SALVATION" army and whatever that means for many other people, I am unsure, but for me it means we are an Army of Salvation where people are being saved and that means... also souls. and whilst we may need to be real about social Justice and care and concern, we need to be the SALVATION army making sure people are getting best opportunity to be saved.
for me personally, to be whole and free, to be who has called ME to be....
What do you want me to do for you ? may be responded with a similar question right back to Jesus ...
Jesus, what do you want me to do for you ?
Oh that we all may ask Him that question too.
